People always ask how I can love someone I’ve never met.
But I visit them in my dreams with every chance I get.
It seems everyone else I’ve come to love
Has abandoned me when they were needed most,
When I told them to look after my heart they left their post.

So it makes sense to leave my heart in the hands of a person who
Couldn’t possibly break it, to be in a relationship
In which I’d never have to truly commit.
They are there for you when others are not.
They help you forget those stupid lies you’d bought.

It’s so easy to fall in love when you don’t have to fear rejection.
You never have to work to get their affection.
They replenish your hope when you’re left with none.
They are there for you to love when you have no one.

They fill your desires in ways real men cannot,
They help convince you that perhaps it
Wouldn’t hurt too much to give love another shot.
Unlike the guys I know, they never judge.
When you prove disloyal they never hold a grudge.

Because finding good guys like them is just too rare.
When you need them they are always there.
You can tell them all your deepest secrets.
You can love them with all your heart and never end up having any regrets.

So I’d rather fall for a fictional guy
Then living in fear of the day I hear him say “goodbye”,
Or believing in another lie or falling for another boy who will just end up making me cry.
